BDS in the CloudBDS is offered in two ways: software that is installed within a customer's environment, and hosted through a cloud provider. Cloud computing provides on-demand compute power and economies of scale that extend an organization's computing resources without incurring capital expenditures. You pay only for what you use, and CPU, storage, network connectivity, and power are all provided by Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) vendors, but the customer still has full control over the machine instance. These servers are virtualized, making it easy to back up, restore, and expand or reduce the resources available as needed. With support for a static IP address and full application customization, customers can define their own URL and modify the appearance to closely match a customer's existing Web presence. Amazon Web Service Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is one of the most scalable, manageable, cost-effective, and robust clouds for applications, boasting 99.95% uptime. We selected Amazon Web Services to provide the BDS cloud computing environment because of Amazon's experience in managing large data centers and their focus on an extremely simple offering, with easy-to-understand and transparent billing services for the end customer. The BDS enterprise SFT application can be offered to companies on a monthly basis, reducing up front investment in hardware, software, and bandwidth. Pricing
