BDS Tech Tip of the Month – AutoSend and AutoRetrieve
BDS already makes it easy for users and customers to send files securely, but BDS can also handle automated file transfer needs; AutoSend uploads and delivers files dropped in a directory and AutoRetrieve automatically downloads deliveries to a directory.
AutoSend makes sending a package as simple as drag-and-drop by mapping directories to frequent recipients and distribution lists. Drop a file into a folder and AutoSend grabs the file, creates a package, and delivers a notification to the appropriate recipient or distribution list. A user can choose to be notified when the delivery is viewed or downloaded.
AutoSend can also be used for automatic outbound file transfers. It scans directories for files, and, if the files are present, logins to BDS and uploads the files to a delivery. BDS sends the delivery notification to an email address that is mapped to the directory being scanned. Once the delivery is sent, the files are moved to a “Sent” directory. In other words, any process that can output a file to a directory location can automatically send a BDS delivery using AutoSend.
AutoReceive can be used for automatic inbound file transfers. It scans for new deliveries within a BDS account, and, if there are unread deliveries, downloads the files to a directory. AutoReceive can also dynamically create sub-directories based on the Subject of the delivery as well as the Sending Email Address. The application or process can then handle the files.

Still Using Email, FTP Sites or Overnight Courier Services to Send Files?
Today’s electronically transacted business requires additional security, compliance with federal and state regulations, easier interfaces, and better management/reporting capabilities.
BDS is an application that meets all of those requirements. It enables the transfer of gigabyte-size files, ensures secure communications between parties, improves your workforce’s efficiency, saves time and money, and prevents potential loss of crucial data.
